State stance against harmful microbeads

Thanks to state representative Christine Grieg, we now have legislation to ban harmful microbeads commonly found in facial washes and bath scrubs. “A scientific study conducted across 21 open water locations in the Great Lakes showed an abundance of microbeads in the water system, the release indicated. As municipal wastewater treatment systems are unable to filter out the tiny particles, they end up in lakes, rivers, streams and ultimately the Great Lakes and seaways.” -Joni Hubred-Golden.  What can you do? Check out ingredients before purchasing soap and look for biodegradable options. Please toss out any existing scrubs containing these harmful substances to protect our Great Lakes.
