We are proud to introduce this years “Go Green Grant” recipients!
These cool projects promote environmental awareness and bring sustainability to the forefront in their communities. Way to go!

THIS YEARS WINNERS:

  • Arynna and Salena from Dearborn Center for Mathematics, Science and Technology are launching classroom recycling and introducing hydroponic gardening.
  • Preston (from Monteith Elementary) is a member of the Litter Critters and will be cleaning up their playground by removing trash.
  • Mariam (from Woodcreek Elementary) is a member of the Junior Optimist Club and will be providing plants in all classrooms to promote better air quality.
  • Macey, Angelina, Abby and Brian (from St. Valentine) are conserving energy by installing *LED lights throughout school.

I will be running around the next few weeks presenting checks and congratulating these students and schools.

*LED hallway lights are significantly more energy efficient than old school incandescent. They use less electricity, last longer, do not contain mercury and save schools money.   Source: http://eartheasy.com/live_led_bulbs_comparison.html
