“Get Outside and Play” Day

Lansing State Capital Event

PLP Team on the front lawn of Michigan State Capitol

Getting outside and playing seems natural to us outdoor enthusiast.  Unfortunately, kids these days spend too much free time using electronics.  Therefore, the Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA), the Michigan DNR and the Michigan No Child Left Inside Coalition hosted the “Get Outside & Play” event for young children to enjoy outdoor activities.

Naturally, PLP utilized this opportunity to connect kids to nature and promote the importance of conservation utilizing our new “Parachute Resource” game.  By developing an understanding how individual behaviors impact the planet, children grow up to become stewards for the earth, able to make informed choices and contribute to their own sustainable future.  Remember, conservation is key!

Additionally, kids collaborated on a bottle cap mosaic art project and we began our summer long survey on “single-use” water bottle consumption.  We are currently conducting a barriers and benefit analysis of water bottle consumption, in order to promote “reusable” water bottles usage and encourage the community to be less wasteful.

Thanks to all the participating camps and vendors, kids had fun discovering the multitude of benefits to playing outside!
