2015 Internship ApplicationEnvironmental non-profit seeks intern for research and video development.

Peace, Love & Planet, Inc. (PLP), a grassroots, non-profit organization is looking for a part-time intern to assist with 2015-marketing development and sponsor procurement. PLP conducts workshops throughout Michigan promoting environmental awareness for children. Kids discover the importance of conservation and gain crucial understanding of how their actions impact our planet. A federally recognized 501(c) 3, we are expanding services to provide schools throughout Michigan with inspirational videos to motivate teenagers to become engaged and environmentally responsible.

This position is suited for someone seeking a challenging experience that will provide first-hand knowledge of real world issues central to the conservation of our planet. Ideal candidates are planning for a future career in environmental studies, planet preservation, the agricultural industry, or community outreach.

Responsibilities:

  • Research social behavior and develop strategy
  • Research and solicit sponsorship
  • Research grant opportunities and apply for grant
  • Foster social and environmental change in the community
  • Promote workshops and assist with programs
  • Post weekly blogs and updates to Peace, Love & Planet website
  • Marketing development

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in college pursuing environmental studies or related field
  • Experienced writer
  • Proficient in PC and Microsoft excel
  • Web design and social media experience
  • Self motivated and reliable
  • Flexible schedule

Terms:
Start date: May 2012
Location: Northville, Michigan. Most work will be done from home and on-site.
Commitment: Minimum 4 hours/week.
Hours: Flexible with intern schedule
Intern must be self motivated, work well with others, enthusiastic and committed to safeguarding the environment

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship with potential bonus pending grant procurement. Candidate may receive credit if their educational institution allows it. A candidate who successfully completes the internship will receive letter(s) of recommendation, career building, and invaluable experience in the field of environmental education and grant research.
